✅ The name "Bone China" comes from the way the porcelain was manufactured, following a method used by Chinese artisans, kept secret for centuries. They used bone ash to give the porcelain remarkable strength, translucency, and brilliance. The Bone China method was first introduced at the Bow factory in England in 1750 and was quickly imitated by Chelsea (1755) and Lowestoft and Derby (1770), and then by an increasing number of English porcelain factories.
